Hello All
Just to introduce myself, I love own care for and promote a Yorkshire Terrier suitable for family life. That is the Yorkie that is robust healthy and can go for good walks.
My Yorkies have ears up or down, they are clipped, they have tails if born with me and we have started a club for like minded people who wish to show their Yorkie.
Now we are not talking about long coats, little boxes and a shrinking number of Yorkies being shown. No this is about that Yorkie you love and know is the traditional pre 1920's Yorkie which is a feisty terrier type.
In good old fashioned tradition we want to show our Yorkies.
Personally I have shown at Crufts with my dog but crackering a coat (putting it into curlers ) is definately not what should be happening to a dog. I want to take my dogs for good walks I cannot do that if I have to be so mindful of this long coat.
So just like so many others, I want to show my Yorkies with a practical clip, this means that a Yorkie can also behave like a natural dog away from the show ring.
Let the showing community take note we also want to encourage a wide genetic pool that will provide the dog with natural immunity.
As a club we also want showing a dog to return to its roots where the owner and handler are one and the same person and the person grooming is also the same as the owner/handler. The show should be for the dog and the person who has nurtured the dog. Showing a dog must be about that principle.
